Born and grew up in Johor Bahru, Annie was brought up under Chinese education stream like most of the Malaysian Chinese in the state. A refined girl from young, not only was Annie the favourite child in the family, she was also awarded as the Model Student (of the year) for her all rounded, excellent performance during her primary school days.
